Greetings shipmates:

This will be my final newsletter as the Norwest Regional President. What a year it’s been! I traveled thousands of miles to visit all the Branches in the lower 48 states

I met a lot of dedicated shipmates doing great things in their communities and was treated very well by all. I had a lot of fun and hopefully made some new friends. Between visiting my shipmates and going to the mid-year National Board of Directors meeting I sometimes felt like I was on deployment again. It was always good to get home, but I always looked forward to the next visit.

I am getting ready to leave for the National Convention in a few days. We are stopping to visit relatives going and on the way home, so may not have internet access some of the time. I will have my cell phone and laptop and will check messages as I can. If any of the Branches desire to send input on the resolutions to be acted on at the convention, please send me an e-mail.

The Regional convention in Spokane was a lot of fun. I want to thank all of the Shipmates that worked so hard to make it happen. At the convention Shipmate RVPNW Mike Archer of Branch 59 in Cheyenne Wyoming was elected to be your next Regional President. He will be officially installed at the National Convention in Corpus Christi. I know he will do a great job for you and I want all of you to give him your support. His e-mail and mailing address will be available on the regional web site.

Shipmate J.J. Wynn of Branch 46 in Honolulu was installed as the new RVP by NVP Ippert at the convention. He is a hard worker and is dedicated to helping his shipmates. My congratulations to both of them.

To those of you that were able to attend the Regional Convention, I hope you had a good time. To those of you that couldn’t make it, you missed a good convention. Those of you who have never attended a convention are urged to take the time and attend some. You may be surprised who you run in to.

We didn’t get a very good showing from the Branches on the various committee reports. I know some of you are doing a lot for your communities, our veterans, and the current and next generation of our Sailors, Marines, and Coast Guard personnel. I would like to see more publicity on these things. It will help us get more members and keep our organization going.

Thanks for a great year!

In Loyalty, Protection & Service
